Cesspit Emptying & Cleaning
What is a cesspit?
Cesspits are waterproof underground tanks that store wastewater from businesses and homes that are not connected to the sewer mains. The only piping on a cesspit is the vent pipes which allow built-up gasses in the pit to escape as an exhaust. So, cesspits do not have an outlet for liquid to drain out like septic tanks making it important to keep these systems maintained to avoid issues like blockages and to prevent them from overflowing. This also means that cesspit emptying needs to be done more frequently than septic tanks and it can only be done by a registered waste company like Celvac.

At Celvac, we take the hassle out of cesspit emptying, meaning our professional and friendly team will efficiently maintain your cesspit at your property. Using high-powered jetting and suction on our tanker, we can effectively empty your cesspit thanks to this cutting-edge equipment. We also responsibly dispose of the waste once emptied.
How often should a cesspit be emptied?
The frequency of how often you should empty your cesspit can vary depending on the size of the tank and the amount of wastewater generated. At Celvac, we understand that there is not a general rule as this can vary on a case-by-case basis. So we would offer a personal service which is tailored to your needs, making sure the cesspit is emptied at the optimal time to ensure it is maintained properly. Usually, in a cesspit, waste will be separated into three layers, with the top being scum which is formed on top of the wastewater which has separated from the waste. This will leave a layer of sludge at the bottom of the tank which is the most dense material which is important to also get out to avoid a build-up.
